Ground Control – How the Program Works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Children in HOPE\u2019s Take Flight Savings Program will not only have an opportunity to open a savings account at Hope Credit Union, but they will also receive financial education that is fun and family-friendly. The financial education curriculum includes lessons about money management, financial goal setting, and how to save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a Take Flight account holder reaches age 18, he or she may withdraw the funds, or funds can be withdrawn for hardship purposes with HOPE\u2019s approval. Parents can make deposits into the accounts; however, parents will not have ownership of the accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takeoff \u2013 How to Join<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in opening a Take Flight account, the following information is required:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Parent (guardian)1<\/sup>\n
      \n
    • Two forms of ID (one photo ID)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Proof of address (if current address is different than shown on ID)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Child\n
        \n
      • Birth Certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Social Security Card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Parent (guardian) must complete and sign the membership application1<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Parent (guardian) must be listed as joint on the account1<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Membership Fee: $10 (waived for program participants)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Initial Deposit: $100 seed deposit from Fund II Foundation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Together we can provide children and families with the tools they need to build wealth, save for college, establish healthy financial habits, and improve their overall financial outlook. Research shows that children with even a small college savings fund are nearly twice as likely to attend college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The following form is available for families participating in the Fund II Foundation Child Savings Account Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
